Backtracking Through April

Lane still loves to read books more than anything else.  He amazes me sometimes with how much he actually retains from the books we read. He knows titles (some authors) and knows the story line and characters to a t. This is what we see when we look at Lane...not just a little two year old boy but a two year old boy with a tower of books next to him at all times.

Big brother rarely gets cuddle time with Lane because often times Lane just won't have it but sometimes it happens and when it does its the most precious thing ever!

I made these "brownies" (or Brown E's) for snack on April Fools Day for the daycare kiddos.

Grant wanted me to make him a huge cookie this year instead of a birthday cake. Turned out really well and he and the daycare kiddos loved it.

Grant went bowling to celebrate his birthday- this was his reaction after getting a strike.

Lane enjoyed getting his rain boots on and playing in the rain

Stinker

Lane loves stickers...he loves to peel them off and stick them to things-including me.

This was at an awards ceremony honoring the Regional Office of Education Writing Talent Search Winners.  Grant placed second out of I believe 3 counties in his age group for a poem he wrote -titled SNOW.

I was oh so very proud of him at this very moment. One of those times when my eyes wouldn't stop tearing up even though my mind was telling my emotions to just, "stop it already-you'll look like a damn lunatic if you start sobbing."

Grant loves loves loves his teacher Miss West. Miss West and Grant's principal came to see Grant get recognized.

This is Grant opening his long awaited gift from his Grandma and Grandpa Fricke. -

A pocket watch!!! That's all he has talked about for months and months and all he said he really wanted to get for his 6th birthday.  He got it and was soooo pumped!

Grant received a book with the winning poems and writings in it. He as so proud to see his poem in a book.

We had lunch with the Fricke's and the Curry's at Evandy's on Easter Sunday. It was gorgeous weather so after lunch we went down to the water front. The kids enjoyed looking for shells and Lane enjoyed throwing rocks and sticks into the water. It was so peaceful and pleasant out there. It was the most perfect Easter Sunday.

Livvy in her beautiful yellow dress.

Of course we can't see Grandma Fricke without getting candy. Can you tell what color sucker Grant had? lol

The little boys loved playing in the sand.

April was full of fun and memorable moments-that's probably why it seemed to fly right on by.
