More Randomness

Breathing treatments -4x a day...not fun but he does well with it...so that's nice.

This is one of the projects that occupied my time in April. This is the gift I made for my Grandma's 80th birthday.  I saw it on Pinterest. It was just a picture of the the project...no step by step instructions so that left me with a lot of guess work and trial and error but I finally finished it. Not exactly what I wanted it to look like but very close. I think Grandma liked it!

Yes, I know the picture is sideways but you get the idea. My mother-in-law celebrated her birthday the end of April. We were at a loss for what to get her (she seems to have it all) so we decided to get her grandkids together for a picture. We framed it and gave it to her as a gift.  I am no photographer so it didn't turn out great but it wasn't bad either. It's so hard to get kids together for a picture.

These are my boys acting NUTS at Wendy's.  Lane will say the funniest things and Grant just loses it.  He was nearly hyperventilating from laughing to hard.

This is what we have seen alot of lately-Grant nose deep in a book. He finished his first chapter book last week in only 24 hours and now he is on to another one.  He loves to read! He reads so well-I really enjoy listening to him.

This is my sweet Grandma at her 80th surprise birthday party Sunday.
Lane has had a cold since last Monday. Runny nose, watery eyes, cough and extremely irritable.  His cold seemed to get worse as the week went by and by Saturday night I was about ready to scoop him up and take him to the ER because his breathing was so labored and fast that it scared me to death.  I didn't sleep much that night because I was so worried about him. He had a slight fever (99.9) too. I didn't mess around with it and took him to prompt care right away at 8 am Sunday morning.  They checked him over and took a chest x-ray...determined he has pneumonia.  We were sent home with antibiotics and a nebulizer (at home breathing treatment machine).  We were out of prompt care by 9 but didn't get to pick up his meds from the pharmacy til 10:30-10:45. We made it back home and by the time we fed the boys lunch and got Lane his medicine it was already after 1:00. I had to be in Quincy for my Grandma's surprise party by 2:50! I hurried through a quick shower and Grant and I booked it to Quincy.  Jason stayed home with Lane to let him rest and assure no one got the sickies from him.We were nearly late for the surprise -it all turned out ok-even though it was crazy and chaotic for a while.

Lane has learned some not -so- pleasant things from some of the kids I watch- so for a while when he got mad at someone for something he would yell, "boom, boom." I nipped this behavior quickly (he frequented the time out chair for a few days)...I explained to him that those are bad words and he would absolutely not talk that way. He tried to justify his behavior by telling me that so and so says it... which was very true and I couldn't fault him there.  So anyways one day he says, "I can say Blast off Mommy?" I thought it was a random question and I answered him by saying, "of course you can sweetie" not having a clue what he was talking about.  I soon found out...because if I told him "no" or made him mad he would say, "blast off!" He now says it all of the time when he gets angry. I am ok with it because at least it's not "boom boom." But oh my! So look out...if you hear Lane say, "Blast off!" you will seriously have a difficult time keep a straight face.  He is also funny at supper when it's time to pray. We ask him to fold his hands and pray and he will respond, "my (he says my instead of I a lot) not know the words."  Then when we begin the prayer he will immediately say, "Amen" and begin to eat.   He is also on this kick of calling Jason  "Frick" -he gets this from me because that is what I always call Jason, I rarely call him by his name...it's always Frick. Now Lane will just walk up to Jason and say, "hey ya Frick!"  He's such a stinker.  He definitely has more of a laid back attitude than his older brother...whether that's a good thing or bad thing has yet to be determined.
He hates to take medicine. He will literally refuse and gag if we try to give it to him. The last time we had to give him Tylenol  Jason and I had to hold him down to get him to take it...he then vomited all over the rug.  So when I found out that the poor baby now has pneumonia that was my first concern. "How are we going to get this boy to take his medicine?" We tried bribing but he wasn't having it.  I try to be nonchalant about filling up the syringe of medicine but when he sees me coming he will say, "my not like it, No- my my my my my will run away." Then he does...the little booger will literally run away as fast as his little legs with take him.  So far so good though-by some miracle we have been able to get all of his doses in him successfully.  Only two more days!

Grant has his first t-ball game tonight. So it begins...the schedule is about to get crazy! I am looking forward to it though as I just love to watch him play.
