It's been a pretty eventful and fun month for our little man. Grant went to General Grierson Days for the first time -we were joined by my family for the day-which was nice since I feel like we don't get to see them as often as I would like. Grant enjoyed riding the pony and talking with General Grant (the civil war reenactor). We ended that day at Aunt Vicki and Uncle Micks which is somewhere that Grant always seems to enjoy. He loves the animals and all of the different places to explore. He also got to spend some fun quality time with his two little cousins- Collin and Cassie-which is always a blast for him.

Grant has gone swimming several times so far this summer. He particularly enjoyed going to Nichols Park pool and the Play for All Park with the daycare kids. He loved showing off in the pool and would become very upset if I got to close to him in the water -he would say "no, Mommy, no help me, me do it me self!" And he did! He loves the water and getting wet. I am really beginning to believe he has NO FEAR. That same weekend he we went to spend some time Bryson and Nolan and little Olivia. We went to the pool at the Jacksonville Country Club and he had a good time but he seemed a bit more reserved and tired on this swimming excursion. He loved seeing baby Nolan and enjoyed holding his ears. Grant loves to swim so much that we bought him a small back yard pool-he enjoys splashing around in it but I think he enjoys the larger pools of water much more.
We went to see Toy Story 3 in 3-D at the theater. This was Grant's second time seeing a movie on the "big screen" and he did really well. He loved it that Aunt Vicki came along with us, and as always, he got overly spoiled by her. She showered him with Toy Story 3 toys and gifts. Silly Aunt Vicki-she hasn't figured out that Grant loves her no matter what -she doesn't have to buy him something every time she sees him.
Grant got to see his Uncle Jacob play the Do or Die All Star Game in Hannibal. It was a hot night but Grant didn't seem to mind by no means did the heat slow him down. He enjoyed watching the game for a while but then wanted to play football himself....so we spent a good portion of the game behind the stadium throwing his little football around.
For the first time -we also attended this years Passavant Duck Race at Nichols Park. It was also a very hot day but Grant had a great time playing games and watching the ducks (real and rubber) in the lake. It is defiantly something I would like to take him to again next year. This years event got rained out during the actual duck race so maybe next year we can watch the action.

We just got back from our mini vacation to St. Louis. Grant loved our hotel room and loved the hotel swimming pool even more. We took him to the St. Louis Zoo again this year. He enjoyed it but seemed to like playing in the sand and water more than the live animals. Jason and I laughed about this because we drove a hundred plus miles for him to do the same exact things he enjoys in our own back yard. We also took him to the City Museum-which was AWESOME. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting St. Louis. Grant loved playing in the ball pits, going down the huge slides, riding the choo choo train, and climbing. Grant climbed 25 feet high in a steel cage to get to an old airplane and after it was all said and done he wanted to do it again. Crazy fun-but definitely needed some Tylenol after the experience. We also made a spontaneous stop in Grafton to go to Raging Rivers. This was also extremely fun. We went down the long, fast, spiraling water slides lots of times. Grant also enjoyed this so much that he begged for more. It was a blast -we WILL be going back there again sometime soon. Fun-Fun-Fun!

The day after our trip Grant and I joined Aunt Vicki in the Fourth of July Day Parade in Jacksonville. Grant loved throwing newspapers and candy out to the kids.

Grant has taken such a liking to catching toads in the back yard. I think he catches one everyday and packs them around with him everywhere he goes. It's cute but sometimes it totally grosses me out and makes me feel miserably sorry for those poor little frogs.
We set up our camping tent in the back yard for Grant to play in. He loves it and tends to call it his castle more times than he calls it his tent. Funny to watch him playing in there. Lately it has been much too hot and almost sauna like temperatures -so it hasn't been much fun.
We took Grant to see the fireworks for the first time this year. We went down the road to Triopia to watch their show and he loved it. I was a bit worried he might get scared of the loud noises but he was actually the opposite. The bigger the boom the more he clapped and wanted more. Aunt Vicki joined us so it made the trip for Grant even more fun!
More summer fun to come-stay tuned!
