Paw Patrol Party!

Every year for the past few years my Dad has come to Grant's school to be a part of the Veterans Day celebration. Grant is proud of his Papa Ham

So, I saw this on pinterest. Take any image and transfer it to a cake. I watched the tutorial on line...looked easy enough. Ugh! It wasn't easy! I repeat...IT WAS NOT EASY! If you plan to attempt this make sure you have lots of supplies, wine, and patience.

This is what the transfer looked like before freezing and flipping it on to the cake.

We got Lane a playhouse as part of his birthday gift from us. While he was in the hospital with pneumonia he fell in love with the Little Tykes playhouse there... he loved shutting up all the windows and doors and hiding in there. I searched online for one identical to the one at the hospital but apparently it was an old school model and they don't make them anymore (hard to find the ones that shut all the way up with the windows) so I turned to Jacksonville Swap Shop for help. We found one! It was originally pink, yellow and blue...but with LOTS of spray paint we turned it into a more masculine looking home for little Lane. We filled it with balloons and surprised him with it on his birthday. He loved it.

All year Lane has been really into watching his favorite show, Paw Patrol. So we had a Paw Patrol themed birthday party this year. I love having his parties at the hall -so much more room to PARTY!

The finished product wasn't exactly what I wanted it to look like but Lane didn't notice any imperfections and immediately recognized it as BLAZE and the MONSTER MACHINES cake. That's all that really matters in the end is to see his sweet little smile. But I repeat---it was not fun!

For Lane's birthday dinner...he requested we go to Pizza Hut. Here's a pic of the birthday boy enjoying his birthday dinner. I'm so thankful he has not conformed to the rest of millions of kids who demand nothing other than McDonalds. Thank you, Lane for being different!

So the playhouse we got him wasn't supposed to be his gift...we just bought it to have here for him to play with but it turned into a gift when this ride on tractor didn't come in time (or so we thought) we checked the shipping status of this tractor everyday for two weeks. It appeared as though it wasn't going to come in until the Monday AFTER his birthday so the playhouse became our "plan B" but it turned out that the tractor did arrive the day of his birthday...so after our dinner out to Pizza Hut we picked up his package and brought it home. Of course that meant he wanted it put together immediately. He loved riding it through the house (Dad's idea-definitely not mine) and even got to ride it a bit the following day. Unfortunately, beings that it is no longer nice weather he hasn't been on it since. Oh well, I'm sure he'll fall in love with it all over again this spring.

I spent the weeks leading up to his party planning and preparing...I made these little puppy ears for all the kids to wear. They turned out cutier than I had thought they would. At first I thought I had spent all that time hand making cow ears....as my spots ended up looking more like a cow pattern than a pup. It all worked out and the kids (especially Lane) seemed to love them.

Cousins coloring together.

I painted puppy faces on all the little ones too. This was fun!

Puppy adoption was fun too. I just went to the dollar store and bought up all their little puppies and added some pup supplies. Which included balls, "treats" (which were just m&m's) blankets and crates. Made up some certificates and let them each "adopt" a puppy to take home.

The birthday boy is 3!

Grant was even more excited than Lane to celebrate! He's such a good big brother.

no party is complete without balloons. I swear the kids could have been entertained by balloons alone.

Lane wanted to sit by his buddy, Livvy. He may have a little crush on his cousin. lol. he talks about Livvy often. One night at bedtime he said, "I am scared!" I then told him to try to think of good thoughts and things that make him happy.  He said, "I'm going to think of my Livvy she makes me smile, I like her face."
