Since Grant was a baby he has always had a ball in his
hand...he was shootin hoops in his little tikes at age one...hitting plastic
balls off his fisher price tee when he was two and when he was three he got a
set of golf clubs from his Papa Ham....he has never really shown much interest
in much else than playing sports. He was given a bike for a birthday gift a few
years ago but it mostly just collected dust in the garage. On occasion, he
would get on and take it for a spin down the driveway but never really got into
bike riding....UNTIL, he heard that his younger cousin, Collin learned to ride
his bike without training wheels. He immediately started begging Jason to take
his training wheels off and was focused and consumed with learning to ride a
big kid bike. Jason took his training
wheels off of his little bike and he learned rather quickly to ride without
them. He did run into the back of Jason's truck and he nearly ran over his
little brother a hand full of times but he picked up on it quickly. Unfortunately,
he was too big for the bike he had...and his little knees would hit the handle
bars which made it uncomfortable and difficult for him to ride it. So, on
Father's Day we went to Walmart and picked up a new bike. He took off on it and
was half way to Bill's within seconds.
He was extremely proud of himself and just grinned his big ole Handsome
Grantsome smile. It was so precious to see Jason teach him to master this skill
on Father's Day. It was nearly a Hallmark card image that will be stuck in my
mind for years to come.
