For a few weeks (while the snow lasted) our home looked so festive and cozy. Now, the lights are down because it was 60 on Saturday and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take advantage of the warm weather to take the outdoor lights down. Sad but it was almost a no-brainer.
Festive front yard
Grant playing the role of Joseph at church.
He took his role very seriously and did an excellent job. His Mom only teared up a few times.
Very special young man we have there
And his friend Vivie did an excellent job reenacting Mary.
The whole group
Mama and Papa Ham came to watch the church Christmas program. Papa Ham slipped Grant one of his most favorite things after his performance. MONEY
Lane was just happy and content with his goodie bag and goldfish.
This is a tutu -as you can clearly see...I was asked by Vicki to wear an adult size tutu -since I didn't have one of those lying around the house and didn't wish to buy one I went ahead and hit up Pinterest and made two adult size tutus to be worn at Mallory's tutu and ties birthday party. I was hesitant to take on the task at first but it was actually quite easy...just time consuming.
I love our yard after a snowfall
It's so peaceful and beautiful
And this little guy has to get out there and play in it- he loves loves loves the snow
Lane played too-just not quite as long as big brother
Grant's favorite part was riding on the four wheeler in the snow.
more yard pictures-may be boring to you but I just adore these pics
He was ready to go!
They were so cute out there together.
Lane kept saying, "tickles" and just giggled and giggled.
hot chocolate time
Grant has a great Dad-Jason did all the work in the constructing of the snowman while Grant stood by and watched...
My favorite party of our snowman this year-his mohawk!
Grant has a list of things he had to do in the snow -one was make snow angels of course
Lane got out of the bath one night recently and came around the corner wearing nothing but his coat (backwards)...Grant just rolled laughing. I was almost on the floor with laughter too- it was hilarious
Noodle saw the boys out playing in the snow -guess he wanted to hit the slopes too.
Noodle left the boys this popcorn tin one morning
I HATE SELFIES but I took this to show you that I got my hair wacked off. Although it is a much more fresh look and I needed a cut I miss all of those inches I had chopped off. Hair grows-which is a good thing.
The boys saw Santa on the square after looking at christmas lights.
Noodle sprayed silly string everywhere-he sure knew how to make a mess this year.
I hated my sugar cookies this year-the icing did not taste good-I have been trying to find a good recipe for the past few years - I think I have a new one to try next year. Yuck those were not good. FAIL
Grant left notes for Santa -I don't know if he was trying to suck up or what?
Our annual birthday cake for baby Jesus. The boys always enjoy this -
The sweetest notes I have read in a long time
Grant can be so incredibly sweet
Christmas eve night
Lane LOVES baby Jesus and can spot him from a mile away
Santa brought Lane this new train table-he is infatuated with it. - Hasn't stop playing with his since Christmas morning.
Lane also loved Grant's gifts too- Grant didn't like that Lane liked his toys too and there was the Christmas morning arguing over toys....
Jason and I bought the boys these BIG JOE chairs for Christmas- they are so comfy
Lane didn't take a nap on Christmas and only lasted until about 5pm and then fell asleep on the couch in the up-right position. Poor tired boy.
This is the look he gave us when we suggested he stop playing with his train table and open the other gifts Santa brought him. Ha-priceless.
But once we convinced him to enjoy his other presents he had a great time.
Grant was fun to watch-he got so excited when he opened his gifts.
Lane is still very into watching all of the DVR recorded Christmas programs. Especially Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns. He has the lines memorized even and it is so funny to hear him say the lines from the show as they are saying them on TV. He is a HUGE fan of "ho ho" (AKA-Santa) and baby Jesus. He loved the candy he got in his stocking -especially the tootsie rolls. He is talking so much now and in FULL sentences- he's growing up way too fast-before we know it- it will be Christmas 2014 and he will be a pre-schooler!
Grant has been a lot of fun to watch this Christmas. He hung his own self made decorations all over the house. He was constantly wanting to write notes to Santa, Noodle, us and Jesus. He is really into reading and writing right now. And he LOVES math problems. He especially likes when we give him math problems that are tricky and hard for him to figure out-guess he loves a challenge. He got an air hockey table and a wii u for Christmas and has proven to be quite great and them both. He's a joy to have around but there are days when he gets bored and finds entertainment in tormenting his little brother. Oh my...it gets interesting here at the Fricke home. Sometimes Lane just loves it when Grant chases him and plays kinds of rough with him and other times he despises it. I can't imagine what they will be like in a few years...they are rowdy boys now and I am sure that will continue as they get even older. But, they are happy and healthy and really good kids so I can't complain one bit.
Now that Christmas is over, what on earth will we do with all of these toys. I already tried to shed and purge old toys prior to the holidays but apparently I didn't get rid of enough because it still looks as though TOYS R US just exploded in our home. There are toys EVERYWHERE! I am annal and hate the scattered mess of it all but there is also some beauty in it all too. One day, all too soon when they are grown up and too old for stuffed animals, trains and tractors I will look around and wish I saw those symbols of their youth scattered throughout our home so for now-I am going to TRY to enjoy our beautiful mess.
