The Countdown to Pre-K

His name tag he will wear for the first few weeks of school.
His countdown to when he gets to ride the bus with his friends. Only a few more days until PURPLE BALLOON DAY (first day of school)! And the picture we took of his two teachers!
We had to go out and buy him a big boy car seat because the other one is for babies he said.
Posing in the gym.
Grant's first homework project! He had a fun time with this. So cute!
The sensory table was Grant's favorite. Of course it was-it was the messiest thing available.
Typing a letter to Grandma Fricke at his school.
Loving all of the toys there are to play with!
Back at the sensory table!
Cooking things up in the kitchen!

Jason and I spent Saturday afternoon shopping at the outlet mall in Tuscola. HOLY COW!!!! The deals were amazing. The majority of the things we bought were at least 50% off some up to 90% off! I don't know if the prices were normally like that or if we just hit a really awesome back-to-school sale. So we hooked Grant up with some new school clothes, shoes, jackets, socks, underwear, and pj's (and of course we couldn't leave without a boat load of stuff for baby boy too). We were unable to find a cute book bag for him though....so Grant started his week by going shopping for a new backpack. He already has a really nice Buzz Lightyear one that he could have used but we thought that buying him a new one would get him more excited about going to school next week. He chose the least sweet/cute one there. We ended up with the How to Train Your Dragon bag with lots of scary -weird looking- dragons on it. He loves it...and has been wearing it around the house and playing "school" so I can't complain. Monday we were to have our home visit with Miss Elisha but she had to cancel due to a family emergency so we had a (scheduled at the last minute) appointment on Tuesday. Grant spent the hour before running like crazy around the house -excited about his teacher coming to see him at his house....however when Miss Elisha and Miss Amy arrived he ran and hid-Jason had to drag him out of his hiding spot and even then he chose to hide behind one of us the entire time. He then refused to listen to me when I told him to stop horsing around on the furniture so I did a difficult thing--I put my kid in TIME OUT with his new teachers present. Ugh...I hated to do it and he really wasn't acting that bad but RULES are RULES and he wasn't listening so he went to the time out chair. It was quite embarrassing for me to do but hey-I am sure it won't be the last time Grant decides to embarrass me. hehehehe. He straightened up towards the end of the visit and thanked Miss Elisha for his goodie bag in his sweetest little voice and he handed her the colored picture he made for her. So he came around eventually! Poor thing-was soo excited and shy all mixed into one -I don't think he knew quite what to do with himself. Last night we attened his PRE-K open house at the school. The first stop he wanted to make was the school gym. Oh boy-did he love that...he ran up and down the court shouting, "look Mommy, I am like a big boy basketball player!" We finally got him to agree to leave the gym to go see his room....once inside it felt like a sauna- ick was it HOT in there! Grant didn't seem to care. He loved playing with all of the toys. He just causally roamed around and played with everything. He did exceptionally well-for a shy little boy he did fantastic! He hugged both of his teachers and told them "thank you" and added, "I am excited about school." So sweet. So of course we had to reward this good behavior with a trip to the gas station for a grape soda and some bubble gum!!! He really does seem more excited about going now! Let's hope his excitement doesn't cease between now and Monday!
