Mystery Solved

Saturday morning we had the unthinkable occur! Grant's pappy (pacifier) came up missing! I was not at home when the incident occurred and Vicki can confirm my alibi....so no finger pointing in my direction please. I say this because everyone knows that I have been trying to purge Grant's pappy for some time now. I came up with the idea of giving it away to baby Levi or letting the "pappy fairy" come and take the pappy in place of a surprise....but Grant wanted nothing to do with either option. So I have been patiently waiting for the day when the pappy gets lost or broken (he chewed a hole in another one) but given that I was not here at the time no one could blame me for the sudden disappearance of the pacifier.
Jason searched high and low, in toy bins, behind books in the book case, and in every nook and cranny in the house. Still.......no sign of Grant's best friend anywhere. Needless to say Grant did not have it for his afternoon nap on Saturday, Saturday night, or yesterday. He did well last night when we laid him down for bed. Kind of sad actually seeing him lay there in the dark without his most favorite possession -he seemed kind of lost and definitely sad. He toughed it up though and just went to sleep (after a long conversation about how he is too big for a pappy and that pappy is lost and gone).
This morning it was so nice to see him wake up without his pappy in his mouth. He was smiling ear to ear (usually does but could never really see his beautiful grin through the pappy) and I was so happy that we did it -TWO NIGHTS without pappy and without incident. Until..................
Grant started showing off for his friends and was flopping around on the floor in the playroom and said, "oh, there is me pappy!" He had found it! It was behind his tool bench the entire time! He instantly picked it up and stuck it down his jammies (to hide it) and after some convincing he was able to take it and throw it in the trash can. Very grown up like- I might add...he just said, "that's OK, Mommy, we can just put it in the trash can." For that I am proud, grateful, and relieved. Still a little sad because I know how much he loves it and I know he will still miss it but even more sad....MY LITTLE BOY IS GROWING UP! I plan to take him to town today and purchase some type of reward for being such a good little boy.
Oh and in addition to that --he went without a pull up last night and did amazing. My little boy is growing up so darn fast! Extremely proud of him! BYE BYE PAPPY -this time for good -unless he rummages through the garbage for it or something. :)
