OK, so we have had such a busy month, with pumpkin patches, wiener roasts, football games, family visits, and remodeling our entryway I barely found time to upload all of my wonderful pictures....but if you are anything like me pictures are much more meaningful with captions or story lines. So since I am already behind schedule anyway I am going to kind of half ass this.
What says fall like Friday Night Lights? Grant has not only enjoyed attending a few of the Triopia games but he's also been able to catch a few of Uncle Jacob's Monmouth football games as well. Regardless of which he tends to enjoy playing football, eating hot dogs, popcorn, and candy than he does actually watching the games....however I foresee that changing quite dramatically here within the next upcoming years. Especially when his buddies (Cordell, Mason, Kyle, Aiden, and DJ) are old enough to start playing.
Grant has done an awesome job with the potty training -overall I would say he has been very successful -however occasionally (I'd say maybe once a week now) he will have an accident. He's become quite a little talker too. I like to refer to him as my little parrot...as he repeats EVERYTHING I say-he even mimics the tone in which I say things which 90% of the time it's very cute and entertaining but there are times when it's annoying. For instance when I am trying to count down his 1-2-3 warnings before time outs. Ugh, he even repeats that! Ornery! We are all ready and prepared for Halloween and the fall season (and have been for weeks-Jason makes fun of me but oh well.) When it came time to choose a Halloween costume I tried to leave things up to Grant but every day he would give me a different answer to my questions, "what do you want to dress up as for Halloween." One day he'd say he wanted to be a bear, the next a frog, the next a clown, then Buzz Lightyear, then Super Why and he even threw out the idea of him being Dora. That's when I knew I had better help with the decision making process. He ended up choosing to be a Cowboy. The costume we ordered is extra cute and I can't wait for him to be able to wear it out. Not sure how much he really likes it....cause when it came in the mail he said, "I don't wanna be that Mommy." So I do what all good Mom's do, I bribed him-and not only bribed him but I bribed him with a gun. A toy cap gun of course. So now I think he is on board.
Grant enjoyed attending/hosting his first ever wiener roast (that he can remember anyway-cause he's been involved in at least 3 but it's was when he was too little to care). He seemed to have a great time playing with his cousins, eating giant marshmallows, going on a hayride, and seeing both sets of grandparents together at the same place. We had a perfect night for it....in fact during the day it was sunny and 87 degrees out -we were wearing shorts and still sweating...but it made for a perfect evening.
Jason and I took Grant to Robinson Family Farms-where he enjoyed a hayride to the pumpkin patch to choose a pumpkin. Grant liked the gourds better and had a difficult time deciding which of the fantastically odd shaped ones he wanted to take with him. He also liked jumping the corn pit but most of all he loved the bunnies! He held bunnies for the longest time and he could have done it for hours if we would have let him. If it wasn't for Skid (our dog) I would probably consider buying him a pet bunny....but I don't think it's possible right now. He talks about bunnies all the time and he even carries pretend bunnies around the house with him...(even pretending to feed and pet it-which might be borderline scary but it's also very cute). He had a great time and wants to go back soon.
On Columbus Day -Jason and I took Grant and the daycare kids to a pumpkin patch in Quincy-Mill Creek Farms. We had a fantastic time. Grant loved being with not only all of his friends but his Mommy and Daddy too. Here he enjoyed listening to a demonstration on how pumpkins grow, running through a corn maze, a hayride, and pumpkin picking. Once again, we had beautiful weather. Sunny and 75! Bizarre for this time in October but I'll take it!
Later in September we went to the Steamshow with my family -there he enjoyed driving a tractor ("by himself"), riding the wobble wagon, taking a train ride, and OF COURSE....petting the bunnies! He sat by that bunny cage for so long and didn't want to leave! We also attended Cruise Night with my family that same weekend but it rained on us so we went to Vicki and Micks instead. Grant always enjoys those visits-as he loves how silly Aunt Vic and Uncle Mick are.
Over the past month or so -Grant has started licking his lips constantly! It's caused him to have chapped and sore upper and lower lips. Not good. We put medication on it several times a day which helps for a while until he licks it raw again. Not good considering we have family pictures next weekend. Ugh! I wish he would stop but I know it's just a habit and he doesn't even realize he is doing it. Poor bubby!
