Grant and I went to get our flu shots this morning-I spent the entire trip into town discussing what was going to happen once we got there. He seemed pretty confident and prepared but the little voice in the back on my head kept reminding me that he is two and even if he somewhat understands he's not going to do well with this whole shot thing, heck, some adults don't even do well with needles. When we walk in of course the place is packed up with people. Grant was so excited and anxious to get his shot that he kept asking me, "Mommy, I get my shot now?" and then a few minutes later, "I want my shot now Mommy!" He probably sounded like some kind of freak child to the others in the waiting room begging for his shot. The nurse finally called our names and I told him that I could get mine first if he wanted me to but then quickly demanded to be first. The lady asked him if he wanted it in the leg or the arm and as he replied "arm" he started rolling up his own sleeves. The nurses chuckled at him as he was grinning this entire time...she stuck him -and there was nothing but the sound of silence. For a mother-this was AWESOME! There was no whine, squirm, tears, just SILENCE! I hardly noticed my shot in the arm as I was too busy beaming with pride....my little man did so incredibly awesome.
The other portion of my "Bragging Time" is that I not only have the majority of my Christmas presents bought but I spent this afternoon (during Grant's nap time) wrapping them. I got them all wrapped but one and only because I ran out of the darn tape. Go figure. Yay me! I am excited about it.
We're doing pretty good considering we were all up and in the basement at 4:00am because the storm siren was going off...then we were without power until about 11:30am so that's a bunch of fun trying to entertain a bunch of kids at 6:30am in the dark. It's not like we could have even read books, done puzzles, or played games because we couldn't see anything....so we told ghost stories and sat in a circle and just talked. Ugh, quite the morning I must say. But we are all happy and healthy so I can't complain too much.
My "brag time" is over- I'll try not to do that again for a long time as I am not into bragging but I just had to let ya all know how awesome Grant did today. I love that little boy more than anything in the entire world and then plus some.
Blog at ya later!
