State Fair Hoppin 2014

Every year for the past five years my sisters and I take my Mom on a girls trip to celebrate her birthday. My mom for a few years now, has mentioned that she wanted to see Scotty McCreery in concert. We made plans to take her to see him and also see American Idol Top Ten Concert. Both of these concerts were scheduled at State Fairs. So Thursday night we went to Sedalia, Missouri State Fair to see Scotty then we headed back to Springfield to the Illinois State Fair to see American Idol. As always, the trip was filled with girl talk and giggles. I love the memories we make with each other and only pray that we will have many more girls trips to come.

This is where we stayed while in Sedalia. It was such a unique hotel filled with history and original decor. I loved it! It was definitely right up my alley. Small and old but provided us with easy access to the fairgrounds! Harry Truman once stayed in this same hotel which is exciting. If you curious about more of it's history you can check it out at - www.hotelbothwell.com/history

My little sister, Vicki with Mr. McCreery

My older sister, Lori wasn't scared a bit. She just gave Scotty a big ole bear hug.  It was awesome. lol

Our AARP sponsored American Idol Meet and Greet band. Lol

It rained so much the days prior to the concert and the Illinois State Fair closed the track down due to muddy conditions. This meant we had to sit in the low level VIP grandstand seats. Which wasn't cool at all but at least we got to see the show and it wasn't completely rained out.  It just sucks knowing that we had VIP track tickets and could have gotten Mom right up there near the stage if the weather would have cooperated.

Vicki's signature gesture of the weekend. She played this game on the way home while driving on the interstate. She would just randomly turn to passersby and give them this crazy grin and thumbs up. It was definitely entertaining. Top this with her gesturing the honk sign to every semi truck driver.

Vicki and Lori were clueless during the American Idol concert as they don't watch the show and had no idea who they were watching perform. But they were in good spirits about it and rocked it out anyways.

Meet and Greet Tent after the American Idol concert. It was so much different than the Scotty McCreery meet and greet. We could have chatted for hours with them but with Scotty we just got a picture and a few greeting words.

Caleb (Last seasons winner)

I loved seeing my Mom have so much fun with this. She was cute as a bug while meeting the singers.  Good memories!

This is Alex-my Mom's main man. She really really likes him. He's an excellent singer...bit of a goofball but hey...whatevs

I did actually watch American Idol and knew who the contestants were -Sam Wolfe was my favorite and I was excited to tell him so. What a sweet sweet boy he is.

My meet and greet with Mr. McCreery.

My mom can photobomb with the best of them. This picture cracks me up.  I think it's probably my favorite picture from Girls Trip 20141! She's hilarious!

Vicki is a bit more nonchalant about her photobomb. She's the head peeking up in between Mom and Sam.

Selfies with the Idols. Something I really never thought I would do. It was all together weird. Fun...but weird.

We all decided to get our picture in the photo prop. Vicki did well with this

I also rocked it out....

Mom.....however, had some troubles.... hahahahahaha. She damn near knocked the entire thing over. I seriously thought she might injure herself again this year. Last year she tripped and fell and broke her ribs. This very well could have taken place again but thankfully she caught herself. Oh my....I laughed so hard I thought I might pee my pants. The above picture is of her trying to gain her composure after this incident. She was laughing so hard she couldn't peek through the hole.

I made this sign for my Mom to hold up during the concert. At first, she led me to believe she may not hold it as she was embarrassed but as time went on I do believe she fell in love with this poster.  She held it up several times throughout the concert. It was fun to watch.

In line for our Meet and Greet.

For both concerts we were concerned about rain but the skies cleared and the weather was actually really ideal.

We were each given autographed photos of Scotty at his Meet&Greet

Never dull with Vicki Jo
