Lane was thrilled that there were a few days last week that the weather allowed us to be outside. We spent the entire morning one day just wandering around.
YES! A BUD!!!!
Wow, totally not a flattering picture of me but I just wanted to give you an idea of what Grant gave me at 6:30 am on the morning of my birthday. A crown, stickers, handmade (wearable) sign and a necklace. All accompanied by NOISE MAKERS and BALLOONS! He was so sweet. He woke me up that morning and said, "Mommy, time to wake up- it's your birthday!" He was sooooo excited -you would have thought it was his birthday. It was my most favorite part of my day.
This is the little book Grant made me for part of my birthday present.
This is the poem Grant made for me (with Dad's help). So funny and so sweet. He gave me a heart shaped necklace with little charms in it. One charm was a cross, the two others were hearts one that said, "my boys" and the other said, "love." Super thoughtful of him.
I wanted to go somewhere fun with the boys on my birthday... and what is more fun than Chuck E Cheese?
Lane was freaked out by the mechanical singing animals. He refused to pose for a picture because of it.
Loving it!
I am not a fan of cake so every year on my birthday I make the request to have PIE instead. Ugh- and of course I long for the worst pie you could possibly consume. Each slice is 500 calories!!! Oh but worth every bite.
After Chuck E Cheese we went to the mall- had to ride the train!
Grant is an amazing little boy and I feel so blessed God chose me to be his Mother.
Spinning makes me nauseous so I stood on the sidelines and watched.
As the years go by, birthdays take on a whole different meaning and feeling. It's less about myself and more about the people I love the most. I didn't want to do anything but see my boys smile and have a blast on my birthday....it made my day to hear them giggle and see their sweet little smiles. I know that when all else may fail -the love of these three men in my life will never let me down. They are amazing and I am so incredibly blessed. Blessed- but feeling old. It's crazy to think that I only have 6 more years until I'm 40!!!!! What the heck is all that about??
Last weekend Jason and I went to see the movie Son of God. It's a spin off (or expansion) of the mini-series "The Bible" that the History Channel aired last year. Although, it has received critisim from some Christian bloggers, I still thought it was extremely good... and I encourage you all to see it. With that said-there were several parts that were so difficult for me to watch -I actually felt physically sick. I think it may be because it was just too emotional to see images of our Savior being beaten and nailed to the cross. Powerful stuff! It was a bit too much for me at times. Although, I found myself shedding tears, tensing-up and cringing often there were so many truly beautiful parts of the movie too. The miracles Jesus preformed were my favorite parts. And I really enjoyed getting a better idea of who each of the disciples were, especially Peter. I think the movie was very well made- anytime a story is told through HOLLYWOOD lenses it's going to take on a different kind of feel than actually reading the scriptures from the BOOK itself but -all in all I give it two thumbs up.
I am anxious to watch the movie "Noah" and "Heaven Is For Real"- coming to theaters soon!
