Well, this past week was full of festivities and fun. Sunday we had 70 degree weather -crazy and unheard of in Illinois to have such temps the first week of December. So we enjoyed spending the entire day (minus the time we spent in church and at Christmas program practice) outside. The boys rode around the yard in the Ford F150 power-wheels, swang in the swings which we had just taken down to store for the winter (had to hang up back up of course) and we ended up at the ball diamond at Grant's school. He loved hitting some balls with his ole man and I think Jason enjoyed it equally as much.

That evening we went to the town hall to see Santa. As Santa walked through the doors the kids who were once gathered around dispersed pretty quickly and ran off to stand at a safe distance from Santa and lots were clinging to their parents but not my kiddo-he ran right up to Santa and gave him a big ole hug.  I think it kind of surprised the big guy.  It was sweet to watch-Grant was the first to hop on his lap and talk to him.  And then after the line of children went down (there were probably only 20 kids there) and Santa was sitting alone-Grant went back up to keep him company. Once again, they chatted like they were old friends.  I love Christmas time because of these very moments...when you can see the awe and wonder in the kids' eyes.  Lane didn't want to sit on Santa's lap but I held him and sat on the edge of his knee and he seemed OK with that.

Wednesday Grant had his school Christmas program. He has been practicing his songs for weeks here at home and had talked to Lane about how much fun it will be for him to watch big brother sing with the kids.  Unfortunately, Lane and Jason were not able to make the show. Lane had a temperature and was acting quite sick the day of the program.  Grant was devastated that his dad and brother weren't going to be there to watch him but I had to explain to him that it wouldn't be fair to Lane to take him out when he wasn't feeling well. Jason ended up taking him to prompt care- diagnosis EAR INFECTION. Again! Poor baby.  Grant did a fantastic job at the program - I recorded his entire performance for Jason to watch and Grant thought that to be acceptable.  Grant is so close with his little friends -I can tell how much he loves spending time with them. We really need to have a play-date with them soon (now I just need to find the time in the schedule to do such things).  Grant sang "Must Be Santa", "Jingle Bells" and "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" - it was a treat to watch. The school does a fantastic job with the program and I am excited for next year already!
