Feeling Broken

Since I haven't posted in some time I am nearly certain you don't know that I have a bum knee (actually now we can pluralize that and make it "knees") which in turn has left me feeling really BROKEN, frustrated, and oh yeah-OLD. I initially injured it during a workout and then I, like an idiot didn't take it seriously and continued to work out on it. Whoopsee...that was a bad idea. I went to see the doc and he ordered an x-ray which completely baffled me because I knew for a fact I didn't break a bone and the x-ray would show nothing. Come to find out -apparently the insurance companies wont pay for an MRI (which is what the doc really needed and did order) until you first get an x-ray. Crazy right. Anywhos, I got the "all clear" on the x-ray and then went to get the MRI done. Interesting that they really wanted me to keep my leg very straight and still for a half hour with a ten lb bag weight on my ankle. I say interesting because that is the only time my knee seriously hurts is when I have it 100% straight...so after a very uncomfortable MRI and 36 hrs later I got the call from the doc that it is tendonitis in my knee. Grrr. I feel like I am seriously in a slump right now because I haven't been able to work out for nearly three weeks now. And with this news I am sure it will be even longer. Sure does make me feel OLD. I can't climb stairs very well or run and play with Grant like I could before. I am glad it was nothing more serious however, I am feeling rather frustrated about the entire situation.

Since we are kind of on the topic of medical news...I will update you on Lane. Poor baby had another ear infection. We just finished up day 10 of his antibiotics on Sunday. I sure hope this is the end of those-I feel so bad for him. In addition to that we had an extra rough night with him on Sunday evening as he was screaming bloody murder and balling himself up into a ball. He cried constantly for the longest time-and for Jason and I this was so super scary because Lane NEVER really cries. Seriously, he's hardly ever fussing or anything but this night we could tell something was hurting him and he was in pain. And by the way he was acting it was obvious it was his stomach. I was nearly to the point of taking him into the ER to get him looked at when he finally fell asleep. But just because he fell asleep doesn't mean I did. I ended up holding him and propped up on the couch the entire night. Ugh boy could I feel it the next day. Talk again about feeling OLD. Anyway come to find out he was extremely constipated and passed a stool as hard as a rock (literally). Poor baby.

While at the doc for his ear we were referred to the Feeding Team at Koke Mill Medical Center in Springfield to try to see if they had any tips for us on how to get Mr. Lane to eat table food better (by that I mean fruits and veggies and not just puffs and crackers). We went today and it went really well. So well, we do not have to schedule another appointment. They felt he had nothing alarming or concerning presenting and chalked it up to him being a bit stubborn and independent. He has been doing much better lately. He loves to use a spoon and a fork and attempt to feed himself using his utensils. He is growing more accustom to fruits. He does NOT like JUICE whatsoever. We found that out when trying to give him pear juice to help with his constipation.

Other than that we have been enjoying some fun fall activities. We raked and jumped in the leaves on Sunday. Went for a long family walk on Sunday (which killed my knee but it was worth it). We carved a Spiderman jack-o-lantern. We had a small family weiner roast/hay ride over the weekend as well. I am a girl who LOVES LOVES LOVES weiner roasts so I was tickled pink to host one yet again this year. After the hayride -my sister, Vicki and I took Grant to a spooky trail (at my sister's friends house in j-ville) and he really enjoyed being scared and I enjoyed watching him. So fun.

The first weekend of this month my sisters and I took my mom on our annual girls trip to celebrate her birthday. This year we went to Indianapolis for the weekend. I wont bore you with every detail but in a nutshell ---we went to Go Ape Adventures which is a zip-lining course in the woods/park, we took a four person bicycle around the park (hilarious) -hit up the NCAA museum and we went to Mind Tripping show. It was a great time as always. Mom was so awesome zip lining. She really is quite the dare devil she is. I hope to post some pics of the trip soon.

I have also attended my first ever Christian concert. Vicki and I went O'Fallon Il to see Mark Schultz and Anita Renfro perform. It was an awesome time. I enjoyed it immensely.

Last night our MOPS (mother's of pre-schoolers) group had Jill Savage come speak. She was extremely good. I loved every second of it and walked away feeling uplifted, inspired, and ready to implement some of her parenting techniques. For those of you who may not know, Jill Savage is on a Christian radio program (WIVI) and is the author of many books about motherhood. She is also the founder of Hearts At Home (an organization that focuses on encouraging and supporting mothers). I picked up one of her books after hearing her speak last night and I am excited to read it. Although, first I have to find the time. I actually debated on whether or not to write a blog post tonight or read and I chose this because I realized it had been a long while since writing on here.

I hope to post pictures I have taken within the past month sometime soon.
