Grant and the School Scout
Today was registration for Pre-K at Triopia. I spent a great deal of time trying to prep Grant for what was going to take place to relieve any anxieties he may have about visiting the school for the first time -however it is incredibly difficult to prep someone about what's going to take place when YOU -YOURSELF have no idea either. So, I prepped him by telling him that a lady would take him into a classroom and ask him some questions, play with him, and hang out with him for a while all while Mommy waits in a different room for him. Unfortunately-today was just the REGISTRATION for Pre-K and not the actual screening so all of that prepping was in vain. We were able to talk to Miss Elisha and see Grant's soon-to-be classroom. Grant was is typical self, extremely shy and reserved but after we left he expressed his excitement about school and told me that he liked Miss Elisha and Miss Amy and liked the room because "it had a lot a lot of toys to play with." We return to the school next month (April 21) to do the actual screening so hopefully by then I can get even more prepping in and he will do well. While at the school Grant saw Cordell in his classroom and gave him a sweet little smile and a wave...and shortly after seeing Cordell he ran into Aurora in the hallway and said his hellos to her as well. I think -after that he gained some confidence but couldn't quite understand why he couldn't go talk to his friends. He really enjoyed watching the little kiddos play in the gym. Mr. Door waved to him and Grant said, "who's that guy." I said, "oh, that's Mr. Door -he will be your teacher when you go to play in the gym." Grant replied, "OH I LIKE MR.DOOR" in his most excited and sincere voice. It was bitter sweet walking with my little baby down the halls of Triopia Grade School. Part of me is proud and excited for him and another part of me aches because my little baby is no longer LITTLE or a BABY! Seems unreal that he will actually be getting on the bus this fall for SCHOOL!!! It's something that will be so good for him though. He has never been around anyone but Mom...it will definitely be a huge adjustment for him but I trust everything will be fine. Now, what the heck am I going to do with my time when he is at school for a couple of hours. Maybe I will take up sewing. :) That was a joke! I bet I can use that time to give this house a much needed scrubbing everyday...or shoot. I know I will find something to do with myself. Or maaaaaybe I could go volunteer at the school doing something so I can be closer to my little Grant. :) Again, another joke.
